Thank you Nikolyn. The building has deteriorated further since 2012. Desperately in need of an angel. It is the most photographed building in Apalachicola.

Rundown as it is, this old place is still charming - made more so by your artistic presentation of it. Great shapes!

Thankyou Frank for featuring in the Real Florida Group. We may be about to lose this building on the historic waterfront. Does anyone have any ideas?

Artist's Description

Juried in to Creative Tallahassee (City Hall), March 2012. This old seafood house in Apalachicola Florida has been vacant for at least 15 years. The seafood business has been tough...waterfront property pays very high taxes, but the working seafood businesses cannot survive and pay huge taxes. This building is now in very bad repair and should be saved...it is probably the most photographed and painted building on the waterfront. The poor owners cannot fix it up and the taxes would be less if it were vacant land. The Taranto family came from Italy several generations ago to fish.

I'm a painting fool. I'm obsessed. Always driven to be the best at whatever I was doing, painting is now pushing me harder and harder. Always an entrepreneur I have been involved in many different business adventures, the most successful of which was Stick It In Your Ear, art to wear jewelry design, manufacture and wholesale. Each piece was signed and dated, so now you can find my jewelry on Ebay as 'vintage jewelry'..the 90's seem like yesterday. Over 70 paintings accepted into juried shows in GA and FL. Won Best Emerging Artist, Forgotten Coast Plein Air, 2011. 5 HM in Atlanta Artists Center, Gadsden Arts Center Annual 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014. Creative Tallahassee 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.
